For me, this work is personal.
My mother spent 24 years working in school administration. Growing up, I saw firsthand how much educators give, not just to their jobs, but to the students and families who depend on them.
She and the teachers and staff around her spent their careers looking out for everyone else's children.
I believe people like them deserve someone looking out for their financial future, too.
Years later, as we began working with educators and their school district retirement plans, we noticed a recurring problem.
Many teachers had contributed to a 403(b) for years without fully understanding what they owned, what they were paying or what other options might be available to them.
Some owned annuity contracts with insurance expenses, investment costs or surrender provisions they didn't fully understand. Others simply hadn't received much guidance beyond choosing a product and deciding how much to contribute.
That isn't the experience I'd want for my own family. And it's one of the reasons we created After Class.
We help educators understand the retirement benefits they already have, make informed decisions about their 403(b) and 457, and bring their pension, investments and retirement goals together into one coordinated financial plan.
Clear advice. Transparent fees. A fiduciary relationship centered on you.
